Usbornes Sponsored Reading Challenge 2025
A reminder that our Sponsored Reading Challenge starts next week from 20th October to 31st October 2025.
The project is being organised in conjunction with Usborne Partner Louise Knowles, and all the money raised will go towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. So, for every £600 raised, we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books!
Our target is to raise £600 in sponsor money, with Usborne donating an additional £360 of books for free. This will give us a total of £960 to spend on new books and resources for our children.
Please help us to enhance our reading resources for pupils by encouraging your child to spend a small amount of time each day either reading to themselves, to others, or being read to. They can read books, comics, magazines, newspapers, menus, websites, recipes, poems, leaflets, instructions – anything with words!
After the sponsored read, please send all the sponsorship money that your child has raised to the school by Friday 7th November 2025. Please make payment via cash to the school.
We look forward to having lots more books for your child to read, share and enjoy.
Sponsor forms have already been sent home with the children but if you require another, please contact the school office.
Thank you for supporting this event.

Harvest Festival Food Donations 2025
Sean Gibbons, Managing Director of Food Aware came into school on Thursday to collect the donations of food kindly given to us by our generous parents/guardians. The donations were taken to Mexborough Food Bank.
Sean talked to some of the year 6 pupils about where their donations will go and how much they help families in need.
Thank you so much for your support, your donations ensure no family has to go hungry.
