Prayer Spaces
Prayer Space at Kilnhurst St Thomas' CE Primary Academy
As a school rooted in Christian values, we believe that providing prayer spaces supports the holistic development and wellbeing of every child.
Why Do We Have Prayer Spaces?
Prayer spaces are a vital part of life at Fullerton because they offer children a peaceful place to pause, think, and pray whenever they feel the need. These spaces are designed to nurture the spirit and encourage reflection, which is essential for living life in all its fullness —our school’s vision inspired by John 10:10.
Prayer spaces help children to:
- Express their feelings and thoughts in a safe and supportive place.
- Build a personal connection with God, fostering spiritual growth.
- Develop values like kindness, respect, truth, hard work and courage by reflecting on their actions and choices.
- Find calm and focus, which supports their social and emotional wellbeing.
How Prayer Spaces Reflect Our Vision and Values
Our prayer spaces are more than just an area in the classroom; they are places that embody the values we hold dear at St Thomas.
These prayer spaces nurture the whole child—spiritually, morally, socially, and personally—helping each child realise their full potential. Each space reflects our school values and draws inspiration from Scripture:
- Kindness - Bible Story: The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37)
Children reflect on how they can show kindness to others, even those who are different from them, just as the Samaritan cared for the injured man. - Respect - Bible Story: Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet (John 13:1–17)
This story teaches humility and honouring others. Children learn that respect means valuing others’ thoughts and feelings, following Jesus’ example of servant leadership. - Truth - Bible Story: Nathan Confronts David (2 Samuel 12)
Children are invited to think about honesty and integrity, understanding that living truthfully—even when it’s hard—brings healing and restoration. - Hard Work - Bible Story: The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30)
This encourages perseverance and using our gifts diligently. Children pray for strength to work hard and make the most of their abilities. - Courage - Bible Story: David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
Children reflect on facing fears and challenges with faith and bravery, trusting God as David did.
Prayer Spaces Are Always Available
Each classroom at Kilnhurst St Thomas' has its own prayer space, open to all children at any time during the school day. Whether a child wants to say a quick prayer, think quietly, or spend time reflecting, the prayer space is there to support them.
We want every child to know that their prayers and reflections are valued deeply. There is no right or wrong way to use the prayer space—it's a personal place to connect, share worries, give thanks, or simply be still.
Your Prayers Are Valued
At St Thomas, every prayer matters. We believe that prayer is a powerful way to communicate, find comfort, and grow in faith. Children are encouraged to share their prayers if they wish, and these are always treated with respect and care.
Prayer spaces are a reminder that we are part of a loving community where everyone is supported and valued, reflecting the spirit of love and hope that guides us.

In our daily act of collective worship we all say the Lord's prayer together. We take part in the Lord's prayer journey in October. This is where we all come together to explore the meaning of the Lord's prayer. This activity enables pupils to reflect on the words we say and renew our saying.
As a class we all have a lunchtime prayer which we use to be mindful about the food that is provided for us and to remember those who do not have what we do.
Pupils at St Thomas created the following school prayer we say at the end of services:
