In the words of the Ojibwe tribe "Aanii"
Or in English hello!!!!!! We hope you've had an amazing Christmas and New Year!!!!! This term our topics are 'Road Trip USA and Local Study'. The children will learn about the USA past and present and about industry of the local area. There will be lots of art, design and technology, maths, english, PSHE, P.E., computing, history and geography which will all link to both topics. There will also be music lead by Rotherham Music Services and modern foreign languages and Religious Education. We will definitely have another busy term!!!!
P.E. lessons are on Fridays pm during this term and will be inside due to the weather and we ask that your child comes to school in their P.E. kit on this day as both sessions will be in the afternoon.
We ask that children read at least three times a week at home. Please write a comment in your child's reading diary for their home reading to be recorded towards our Bronze, Silver and Gold reading badges. Any child who has not read at home will spend some of their break time at least once a week reading with an adult.
Photos of class events, visits and successes will be shared through the Class Dojo app. Please make sure you check it regularly to see what is happening in your child’s class and use it as an opportunity to discuss with you child what they have been doing. Please be aware however that messages sent during lesson time may be missed so if it is anything urgent then please contact the school directly.
Homework will be set and posted on dojo as and when required for the children to complete.
Maths Times-table apps
Times Tables are a big thing in Year 4 as in the Summer term the children will have a 'Multiplication Tables' test. There are 25 questions based from 2 to 12 times-tables. We have invested in 2 apps to help children develop the skills and knowledge they need for achieving a pass mark in the test. These are 'Reflex Maths' and 'Times-table Rockstars', there will also be competitions among the class and across the school to embed these skills.
