Summer Term 2021
We hope you've had a good Easter break!!!!! This term our main topic is 'Potions' with a couple of Investigate Science mini topics 'How Does Toothpaste Protect Teeth' and 'How far can Sound Travel'. There will be opportunities to practise and consolidate the skills we have been working on all year through art, design and technology, maths, English, PSHE, P.E., computing, history, MFL and geography. We will continue to have music led by Rotherham Music Services on a Thursday weekly. It will definitely have another busy term!!!!
P.E. lessons are on Fridays pm during this term and we are hoping to have these outside weather permitting and we ask that your child comes to school in their P.E. kit on this day as both sessions will be in the afternoon.
We ask that children read at least three times a week at home. Please write a comment in your child's reading diary for their home reading to be recorded towards our Bronze, Silver and Gold reading badges. Any child who has not read at home will spend some of their break time at least once a week reading with an adult.
Photos of class events, visits and successes will be shared through the Class Dojo app. Please make sure you check it regularly to see what is happening in your child’s class and use it as an opportunity to discuss with you child what they have been doing. Please be aware however that messages sent during lesson time may be missed so if it is anything urgent then please contact the school directly.
Homework will be set and posted on dojo as and when required for the children to complete.
Maths Times-table apps
Times Tables are a big thing in Year 4 as in the Summer term the children will have a 'Multiplication Tables' test. There are 25 questions based from 2 to 12 times-tables. We have invested in 2 apps to help children develop the skills and knowledge they need for achieving a pass mark in the test. These are 'Reflex Maths' and 'Times-table Rockstars', there will also be competitions among the class and across the school to embed these skills.
